IDP Camp
Project Overview and Statement of Need.
The international Christian Center operates an internally displayed persons (IDP)Camp in the forested Uhogua community of Benin City, Nigeria, providing refuge and support to more than 5000 internally displayed Christians from northeastern Nigeria, who were forced to flee their homes due to Boko Haram related violence. The camp serves highly vulnerable populations, including orphans, widows, and nursing mothers, many of whom lost spouses and primary means of support during the conflict.
The center provides a critical safe haven and basic assistance to display families who have endured prolonged insecurity and loss.
However, the scale, and ongoing nature of displacement continue to place significant strain on available resources. Despite sustained efforts, the camp faces persistent, and urgent needs in food security, adequate housing, access to education, and essential medical care.
Additional support is vital to strengthen the center’s capacity to meet these needs, improve, living conditions, and restore dignity, stability for individuals and families residing in the camp.
Strategic investment with directly contribute to the well-being and resilience of displayed persons while enabling the Center to sustain and enhance its humanitarian response.
